Excuse me for not shaking your hand.

Filed under: Complaint — bigred @ 11:52 am

Day in day out, I hear about getting the flu here and there.  People always sick.  Well the reason starts at the bathroom.  I’m so tired of walking into the bathroom, only to notice someone walk out after playing target practice with the urinal cake and go straight for the door.  That’s right.   No soap no water…just urine filled hands on the door handle.  To make matters worse I’ve witnessed straight from the fecal throne to the door.  And maybe to top it all.  I’ve seen upper management doing this.

What the hell.  I don’t trust anyone.  Why should I shake your hand.  I’m sorry If I grab a bottle of hand sanitizer out of my pocket after I shake your hand.  I just don’t know where that hand has been or if it’s been washed.  Maybe it shook the hand of someone who didn’t wash before you shook mine.

Maybe we need a new policy where I work.  If you get caught not washing your hands you get fired.  Its gross.  It really is.  People should know better.  It’s bad enough fighting air borne crap, now we need to fight hand and piss crap (literally).

Wake up people.  It’s called soap.  TRY IT.

  2. Red, I am intrigued by your seeming expertise in male conduct in workplace MEN’s restrooms. I can’t tell you how long it has been since I’ve encountered a woman sharing the men’s rooms in a workplace or public venues that I’ve used!

I can’t speak for all men, Red, but I learned early on not to pee on my hands–although I do confess to playing target practice with the urinal deodorizer cake regularly. Nevertheless, I DO wash with water and soap (when the dispenser contains some) and try hard to dry my hands, as do MOST of the men I encounter in shared access restrooms. More often than not, my intent to dry is frustrated by finding towel dispenser(s) empty. Perhaps THAT’s why you find wet door handles in restrooms!

I admire your heath consciousness. Hand sanitizer is a good investment for us all. I carry it routinely in my pocket and car.
