The return of the Comcast

Filed under: Complaint, humor — bigred @ 8:24 am

Comcast sent out a contractor to finish the setup for me (sort of).  My apartment being older had no wires ran in the walls.  They ended up having to run a wire all the way around the building to catch my front outlets.

The guy that shows up is a part time contractor /  part time bail bondsman.  So basically this is a big guy that is legally aloud to kick in doors and throw people to the ground in order to get the bond money….  Anyways he tells me.  Your neighbor is STEALING cable, so I’m going to cut their lines.  (I think he only unplugged it)….  So last night i’m working off the new line that was ran and   ….then all of a sudden stops working.

Now given I was using my digital tuner on my computer, I thought it was the computer.  About thirty minutes later, I look in the unlocked box to see that the new cable ran is NOT plugged in and the one neighbor’s cable is plugged back in.  So, my neighbor cable stealing b$STRD unplugged my stuff.

Needless to say I was back in action within a few turns of a fitting.

Gas Mileage Even better than I thought

This is an update to my post the other day about MPG on my car.

Turns out the honda was able to get 33.3 MPG and that was at expressway speeds.  Now this is a first for me and I usually never get this high.  I’m not sure if there was a little more octaine in the gas or the wind was pushing me a little bit but I can’t complain.  This alloud me to get over 400 miles on one tank which is new for me.

Gas Mileage over Memorial Weekend was good

Filed under: Auto — bigred @ 3:06 pm

My 2006 Honda Accord V6 did pretty well on Michigan roads over the weekend. Most of the traveling was 2 lane roads, with side trips in the evening to small towns for dinner and whatnot. I was able to get 31.8. Not bad for a 244 HP engine. Maybe the 6th gear does help or the fact it’s manual.

The biggest reason I got such good mileage I believe is because of the fact that the speed was under 70mph most the time and yet I got to the destination in the same amount of time.

I guess I’ve been in a hole…

Wordpress 2.2 is out and 2.1 is no longer support.  If anyone else missed the memo like I did, you might want to download the new version.

Comcast Hell

Filed under: Complaint, Technology — bigred @ 9:51 am

It all started on May 4th when I ordered from http://Comcastoffers.com .

I ended up waiting a day until I had to contact Comcast directly for a install date.  The soonest that my schedule matched theirs was the 12th of May.  After waiting from the time of 8am until 10am he finally showed up at 9:58am.  He looked around the apartment and told me that there were no wires going into the apartment.  This was the #1 thing to set me off.  He said that new lines would have to be berried.

From the days May 15th, through May 24th, I called 9-10 times with a average call length of about 25 minutes.  After the third call they realized that they had “canceled my order” on their end.  They didn’t even know the cable had to get berried.

On the 22nd, the contractors to do the digging called me.  MISS Dig was to come out some time during the week and they said they might berry by the 25th of May.  Which ment hook up would not be untill about the 29th – 30th.

After inspecting the MISS dig flags (May 22) I was surprised to see flags marked as COMCAST that led from the pull under the driveway around the apartment and 3 feet from my back door.  This was the final straw.  I had never been so angery with a stupid company.  When I called them that night the first lady didn’t even say anything back to me.  She was verry happy to give me a supervisor without question that time.  (hey, who said yelling on the phone never got you anywhere)

So, yesterday, the 24th, 2 Trucks and 3 people showed up to get the job done.  Of course they show up 2 hours late and had no idea that my apartment had no cable lines ran into it.

Free HBO, Free HD, 2 Free digital boxes, 1 Free HD box and probably 2 months free of service. (won’t know if this is true or not until the first bill.)

This will maybe make up for all the mail in rebates that expired because they couldn’t get their act together.

If you made it down this far and are still reading this stupid blog, do yourself a favor and get DSL.

**side note:  I am however getting 5958 kbps download and 495kbps upload.

New Linkin Park – Minutes to Midnight

Filed under: General, WOW — bigred @ 1:06 pm

Minutes to Midnight cover

I’m half way through it here while sitting at work.  I usually don’t buy cd’s because I like the radio better, but Linkin Park is just one of those bands I love to have.

Anyways.  Great Sound.  Tight base.  They have a new sound.  It’s softer but the songs seam to have a new complexity they goes well with the lyrics.

I find myself jaming a little more with this one, but defidently a newer sound.  More mature sounding I guess would be the best way to describe it.
