Digg stories that need to be buried!!!

Filed under: Complaint, Photos — bigred @ 1:10 pm

Everyone knows and loves the site Digg.com  But recently I’ve been anoyed by the stories that make it to the front page.  The content is either old news or false.

Today I read about the new camera that Canon is coming out with the “rebel 400″.  (not the full name).

The problem with it was OLD news and the article was talking about eh “code name” of the camera.http://digg.com/gadgets/Canon_to_Launch_Entry_Leve…
The artile is really about the New entry level camera.  HELLO PEOPLE, the REBEL has been an entry level SLR for some time. :(   THIS IS NOT NEW NEWS.  I don’t care if it’s 10.2 MPix.  JUST A BAD DIG…

A second article talked about the new camera with a self cleaning sensor.  http://digg.com/gadgets/Canon_s_New_Digital_SLR_Ca…  The article of course made it sound like it “cleaned” the sensor.  The technology only removes dust and also has a way to digitally remove it too if you wanted.
Point being.   Self cleaning camera clean dust, not finger prints and they’ve been out for awhile.

If you ever need any information or want facts PLEASE head over to dpreview.com.  You can find all the FACTs and more on cameras there including the new Canon Digital Rebel.

I encourage everyone not only to digg pages but make sure you burry the ones that aren’t really “new and exciting news”.

Daily blogging? Not betting on it.

Filed under: General — bigred @ 8:49 am

Its been pointed out that I don’t blog enough.  I’m sure I’m going to keep it that way.   I told myself that this would be a great way to keep people up to date about…well….I guess random thoughts and complaints.  I always thought that I could do the daily thing, but frankly I’m just too darn busy.

Jeff has pointed out that writely is basically a POS at the moment because it only works on three browsers.  Pretty lame.

I guess its still useful if you have one of those three browsers, which is probably the case if your sitting in some Internet cafe, but I really thought that the program had potential.  I hope we can see some change in the future.

Also, on the bottom right nav bar you will now find a digg badge.  I was just playing around.  Not sure If I’ll even keep it.  I  think I’d rather put up Google ads or something of the sort in place of it.

k, that’s it for now.

IE7 CSS Standards update

Filed under: microsoft, programming, website — bigred @ 10:47 am

If you’re still hiding under a rock and are not aware that Microsoft has a blog for IE7. Their post yesterday details some of the CSS fixes.? I’m interested and seeing if there will be any further changes to some of the crazy floating issues I’ve been getting.

Standards is the key to IE7.? I think they might be getting closer now.? The latest blog post http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/08/22/712830… indicates some of the changes that are being made to fit the standards of W3.? I for one am looking forward to RC1 of IE7.? Again, they have made huge leaps and bounds, and if they can fix some the z-index and floating issues, they will be a little bit closer to what a browser should be.

IE Team, keep up the good work.

Microsoft’s turn at bloging with LIVE Writer

Filed under: microsoft, website — bigred @ 11:36 am

Well, I just posted about how easy writely is.? I have found a better editor but only if you choose to download it to your machine.?? Microsoft has released a beta of LIVE Writer.? This program is pretty impressive.? It detects all your blog’s settings and downloads the full look and feel of your post entry.? This means all the fonts, colors, and other bells and whistles appear while typing in your post.?

Here’s my likes and dislikes of each.

  • live writer -FREE
  • writely -FREE
  • writely-AJAX
  • live writer-?.net Ajax??
  • both can publish directly to blog.
  • writely – no software to download.? Works anywhere.
  • live writer – :( have to download.
  • live writer – picks up all categories, styles and look and feel
  • -both have spell checking -live wirter easier to use.
  • live writer nice picture integration
  • live writer easier to use interface.
  • live writer lets you post draft copies too.

You can pick up live writer at http://windowslivewriter.spaces.live.com/? Don’t be fooled by the content, it works with every major blogger.

If you don’t mind downloading software, I think this is one of the best bloging UI’s I’ve seen to date.?

First post with writely

Filed under: Technology, programming, website — bigred @ 11:10 am

This is the first test from the writely website . This is an “AJAX” program that is in beta. Sor far it runs pretty well and is full feature. I think all the Big Companies may have something to be worried about. I encourage everyone to give this a try. This post is posted directly from writely too.

?

I have to give full credit to chouse for finding this program. He first posted about it HERE .

?

On other news. I’m busy. Thats right too busy. Work…50-60 hours.. :(

Mac OS X Leopard smoke and mirrors?

Filed under: Complaint — bigred @ 12:01 pm

Is it me or has Apple been approaching eveyone with new smoke an mirror features.? People complain that Vista is only giving new program features.? This article sounds almost the same.? http://www.appleinsider.com/article.php?id=1957

My point here is you can’t knock one O.S. when the other is doing the same thing.? B.T.W. why do people want to buy a new O.S. on a yearly basis?? Can’t you take most of the “new features” and just make updated programs instead.? I would consider it more of an upgrade if they went to OS XI or something like that where under the hood it operates differently.

W3C Standard again.

Filed under: Photos, Self Help — bigred @ 3:53 pm

I have noticed since I started using the little gallery2 PHP script to allow pictures from the image block to go on my page that I have been NOT W3 compliant.? After a 2 minute search and a cheap hack, I’m compliant again.? The fix was found on Gallery’s site:
