You know what really grinds my gears? Kate Gosselin’s claim she is broke…

You know what really grinds my gears?  Kate Gosselin is claiming that she is broke because ONE account has been drained by John.  Kate is FREAKING out….she’s putting on the water works and she is being a HORRIBLE actor.

TLC, NBC…please please stop reporting on this divorce.  Quit the show.  Quit paying Kate money to extort her children.  If you want the children to grow up like normal kids, sell your multi million dollar house and turn off the cameras.

In divorce the “man is always wrong”.  I’m not sure why this happens, but for sure all we are seeing is one side of the story, because every time I hear Kate say “I can’t pay my bills”, I want to punch her in the nose.

Take Back the Beep

Are you tired of wasting time  with cell phone voice mails when you call someone and have to listen to the automated voicemail instructions.  EVERYONE knows what to do with voice mail.  You hear a beep you leave a message…

This issue is part of a new Campaign, “Take Back the Beep”

http://pogue.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/07/30/the-mandatory-15-second-voicemail-instructions/

These little 15-second waits add up–bigtime. If Verizon’s 70 million customers leave or check messages twice a weekday, Verizon rakes in about $620 million a year. That’s your money. And your time: three hours of your time a year, just sitting there listening to the same message over and over again every year.

If you have a sprint phone you can turn this feature off.
The simplified instructions are
You can disable the mandatory instructions. Hold down 1 for your voicemail, (then press * if you have messages to go back out to the main menu).     From there:

  • press 3 – personal options
  • press 2 – greeting
  • press 1 – main greeting
  • press 3 – add or remove caller instructions
  • press 2 – do not play instructions

http://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/20648?tstart=0

Does anyone else have the instructions for the other carriers?…the more blogs that post this information the better our cause.

Kate Gosselin is still using her kids as a crutch

Filed under: Complaint — bigred @ 6:48 am

If you don’t know…Kate Gosselin is the the mother from “John and Kate + 8”.  Today she was interviewed on the today show.  Every time she was questioned about John and something he did or didn’t do, she kept coming back to, how he’s hurting the kids.  She must have mention her money making crutch or better known as her “kids” maybe 30 times.  She paints a picture that their divorce is all his fault and that he’s not thinking about the kids.

I don’t think anyone in America will know 100% what happened between them.  My guess about the breakdown is because she didn’t pay any attention to John anymore and only to the kids, her book, ect.  I feel at this point, the show should end.  There is no point following a divorced couple.  We know they had 6 kids and now that the family is millionaires, I don’t think we need to follow the “hardships” of a family “trying to make it”

Kate, please quit using your kids a your crutch.  We know divorce sucks and its not fun for the kids, but seriously….

PCIe x16 and PCIe x1 problems

I’m using a MSI 965 mother board.  I thought I understood PCI express but I cam up with a problem and now want to know if its all motherboards.  I wanted to have a third monitor so I added a second video card in my second PCIe x16 slot.  I finally got it working.  BUT…BUT…. i tried to use my TV tuner card which was sitting in one of the PCIe x1 slots.  It didn’t work.  Windows didn’t even recognize the card anymore.

After reading my motherboards manual over, I read that when you use both PCIe x16 slots it disables the PCIe 1x slots because it shares the bandwidth.

My question to everyone out there.  Is this true for all mother boards?  Can you not have your cake and eat it too?  ….errrrh I mean, can you not have to x16 cards and still use the x1 slots?

Thanks everyone.

Michigan Falling apart?

I came across an blog today called the Motorless City.  A nice depressing blog about Detroit falling apart.

I wasn’t aware that the Michigan Central Station will be demolished.  That’s a real shame.  Both “The Island” and “Transformers” had scenes filmed there.

Well it’s not looking good in Michigan.  With GM more than likely going to go under Detroit won’t have much left if that happens.  We might have to bring back the slogan, “Last person out of Michigan, turn out the lights”

Should ALL Internet sales be state taxed?

When I was a cheap college student, I did everything to save money…hell, I’m still cheap.  I’ve always loved the fact that online sales didn’t have state tax.  Today I bought my last gadget from Circuit City.  I just found out I paid $15 more than I could have gotten it for online (after mail in rebate), but I just thought to myself, with the Economy the way it is, I’m kind of glad my state just got the tax.  They need it.  It sucks I paid more in the long run, but if you came to my state you’d understand….

This gets me thinking.  Have we ridden the cash cow too long.  Have we had it too good.  Should the governments step it up.  I have no clue how you’d prove that where you were shipping to also was your resident state too.  I guess, you’d go off the billing address, but it’s a bit more complicated than just that.  Businesses get crazy tax laws as it is.  Then to do business in other states…but not have a physical store…that may just complicate too much.  I did like Circuit City.  They were a great store.  Online Retail is one of the main reasons it went out of business.  Who’s next??

Lesson learned when letting your girlfriend choose a movie

Saturday, I told my girlfriend, let’s just rent a movie and watch it on this crazy TV I bought.  We went to a local video rental store.  We walked the whole store looking at the new rentals.  I wanted to see Wall-E.  She had never seen it but was not in the mood.  She wanted a comedy.  We saw some Dane Cook movie and thought maybe.  Then she found Burn After Reading.  I made  the mistake of NOT reading the back of the movie case.  I asked her, since she just read the back, what is it about?
To my surprise, she tells me it’s a comedy of sorts.  I see it has George Clooney and Brad Pit from the front cover.  (Again I rely on her reading the back).  I say why not…I’m sure it’s funny and has to be better than Dane Cook.

We end up renting that one and buying Wall-E (only $10 to own).

OK…well after 2 hours …we both found ourselves saying.   What the F just happened.  We were so disappointed.  And I made sure I let her know she did not pick out a comedy.  This is not a bad movie, but more random.  If you’ve seen it you know what I’m talking about.  Not only do some of the characters act like they don’t know what the F is going on, but we, the viewers, felt the same way as the credits still rolled.

Girlfriend admitted defeat.

Lesson learned….I pick out our next movie!!!
